Resin Printing Safety Tips and PPE Guide

A practical guide to resin printing safety tips and ppe guide — what to know, what to buy, and how to keep your resin printer running reliably.

Resin Printing Safety Tips and PPE Guide

Why Resin Printing Is Different

Resin 3D printing — SLA, LCD, DLP, and MSLA — uses UV light to cure liquid photopolymer resin layer by layer. The result is incredibly detailed prints with smooth surface finish, but the workflow is different from FDM and the consumables are different too.

The two biggest differences are the liquid resin (which needs careful handling and storage) and the FEP film at the bottom of the vat (which is a wear part that needs replacing periodically).

Essential Accessories

The Proevove Resin Filter Funnel Kit (20 pcs) or Support Removal Tool Kit is the most useful accessory for everyday resin printing. It keeps uncured resin clean between prints, extends the life of your IPA wash, and reduces tank contamination.

Made in India, designed for SLA, LCD, DLP, and Photon printers, and available on Amazon India.

Filtering Resin Between Prints

Every time you pour resin back into the bottle, the resin carries tiny cured bits from the vat. Those bits settle during the next print and get picked up by the build plate, leaving pockmarks on the model.

A Proevove Resin Filter Funnel Kit (20 pcs) with stainless steel mesh and paper filters removes those cured bits cleanly. Pour through the funnel into the bottle and the resin goes back clean.

IPA Wash and Curing

After a print, rinse the model in IPA to remove the surface layer of uncured liquid resin, then cure it under UV light. A two-bath IPA setup (dirty first, clean second) gives better surface finish and extends the life of the clean bath.

Filter the spent IPA through a paper filter to remove cured particles before disposal. Top up the IPA when prints start feeling tacky after rinsing.

  • Rinse in dirty IPA first, then clean IPA.
  • Cure under UV light (sunlight or a UV station) for the recommended time.
  • Top up IPA when prints feel tacky.
  • Filter spent IPA before disposal.

Tank and FEP Maintenance

The FEP film at the bottom of the vat is the most wear-prone part of a resin printer. It needs to be replaced every 50–200 prints depending on geometry and printer model.

A Proevove Resin Filter Funnel Kit (20 pcs) and a Proevove Support Removal Tool Kit cover the consumable side of resin printing. The filter keeps your resin clean and the support removal tool makes post-processing fast.

Safety and Storage

Uncured resin is a skin irritant and should be handled with nitrile gloves. Work in a well-ventilated area and dispose of cured prints and spent IPA according to local regulations.

Store resin in opaque bottles away from direct sunlight. Most resins last 6–12 months when stored properly.
