Bambu Lab X1, X1C, P1S, and P1P Hotend Upgrade and Maintenance Guide

A practical hotend guide for Bambu Lab X1, X1C, P1S, and P1P — full-assembly upgrades, silicone socks, and nozzle wipers that keep the print head reliable on engineering filaments.

Bambu Lab X1, X1C, P1S, and P1P Hotend Upgrade and Maintenance Guide

The X1 and P1 Family at a Glance

The Bambu Lab X1, X1C, X1E, P1S, and P1P share the same hotend design. The X1C and X1E add an enclosed chamber and AMS support, the P1S is the enclosed P1 model, and the P1P is the open-frame P1 model. From a hotend perspective they are all the same — which means a single Proevove hotend assembly fits the whole family.

That cross-compatibility is one of the best things about the X1 / P1 platform. Proevove makes a hardened steel hotend assembly, a silicone sock, and a nozzle wiper that all fit any of these printers.

When to Upgrade the Hotend

The stock hotend on the X1 and P1 family is excellent for everyday PLA, PETG, and TPU. The upgrade becomes worthwhile the moment you start printing abrasive filaments (carbon-fibre, glass-fibre, glow, metal-filled, wood-filled) or running long production jobs where nozzle wear is a concern.

If you are seeing dimensional drift on prints, inconsistent extrusion that does not improve with a cold pull, or visible nozzle ovaling under magnification, the nozzle has worn out. A full hotend assembly swap with a hardened steel nozzle is faster and more reliable than chasing individual nozzle issues on a worn unit.

  • Stock hotend is great for everyday materials.
  • Upgrade for abrasive filaments or production jobs.
  • Dimensional drift and visible nozzle wear are clear upgrade signals.
  • A full assembly swap is faster than chasing individual nozzle issues.

Why a Hardened Steel Hotend Makes Sense

Brass nozzles wear quickly under abrasive filaments. A carbon-fibre spool can visibly enlarge a brass nozzle within hours. Hardened steel resists that wear by an order of magnitude, which is why a hardened steel hotend is the standard upgrade for serious printing on the X1 and P1 family.

The Proevove hardened steel hotend for the X1C, P1P, P1S, and X1 is a complete assembly with a 0.4mm hardened steel nozzle, integrated aluminium heatsink, and pre-wired connections. It is engineered for high-temperature printing with engineering-grade filaments and is pre-assembled and ready to install.

  • Brass wears within hours on abrasive filaments — hardened steel does not.
  • Hardened steel is the standard upgrade for engineering materials.
  • Pre-assembled and ready to install — no soldering required.
  • Integrated aluminium heatsink keeps the cold side stable.

Don't Forget the Silicone Sock

The X1 / P1 family runs hot and fast, especially in enclosed configurations. A silicone sock over the heater block catches residue, slightly insulates the block from cold-air drafts, and reduces the chance of PLA or PETG sticking to the block during a heat creep event.

The Proevove silicone sock for the X1, P1P, and P1S is heat-resistant silicone designed for the X1/P1 hotend geometry. It slips on in seconds while the block is warm and lasts through many print sessions. A torn or missing sock is one of the most common causes of sudden stringing on these printers.

Keep the Print Head Clean with a Nozzle Wiper

The X1 and P1 family have a tool-head-mounted wiper that cleans the nozzle tip between movements. The wiper is a consumable — it wears out and needs replacing. A worn wiper lets residue build up on the nozzle, which then transfers to the print surface.

The Proevove nozzle wiper cleaner is a direct-fit replacement for the stock wiper on the P1S, P1P, X1, and X1C. Swap the wiper when the silicone edge looks worn or torn and your first-layer finish and mid-print stringing will both improve.

  • Tool-head wiper is a consumable — replace it when worn.
  • Direct-fit replacement for the P1S, P1P, X1, and X1C stock wiper.
  • Improves first-layer finish and reduces stringing.
  • Compact 50g design does not affect tool-head motion.

Hotend Swap Tips for the X1 and P1

Always let the hotend cool fully before swapping. The Bambu Lab service procedure is well-documented: open the front housing, disconnect the hotend connector, unscrew the hotend from the tool head, and reverse the process with the new assembly.

After installing the Proevove hardened steel hotend, run a cold pull to confirm clean extrusion. Update your slicer nozzle diameter if you changed size, then start with the filament manufacturer's recommended temperature and tune from there. Test with a small print before committing to a long production job.

  • Let the hotend cool fully before any swap.
  • Follow the Bambu Lab service procedure for the X1 / P1 family.
  • Run a cold pull and update slicer settings after the swap.
  • Test with a small print before long production jobs.

Proevove Parts for the Bambu Lab X1 and P1 Family

Three Proevove products cover most X1 and P1 hotend service needs: the hardened steel hotend assembly (full print head replacement), the silicone sock (heater block protection), and the direct-fit nozzle wiper (tool head cleaning). Together they give you a complete upgrade path without touching the rest of the printer.

All three are available on Amazon India. If you are planning a hotend upgrade and want to confirm compatibility, message us on WhatsApp with your printer model — we are happy to help you pick the right combination.
